Showbox, a major film investor and distributor, is making a strategic move into the market by launching 'SHOWBITE,' a new label dedicated exclusively to short-form dramas.
SHOWBITE plans to roll out five short-form dramas sequentially starting this September, with an ambitious goal of unveiling a lineup of approximately 20 titles by the end of the year.
The inaugural project, directed by Yoon Hyung-sik, will debut simultaneously on September 11th across global short-form platforms 'Showtime' and 'B-Glooo.' This drama follows the story of Victor, the second son of a food conglomerate, and Mika, a rival possessing an exceptional palate, as they are forced to team up in a high-stakes cooking competition. Actors Alexander Morell and Jonathan Barcelos star.
Following this, director Lee Chang-woo's action thriller <Grim Reaper: Return of Asura>, a revenge saga centered on a former secret agent, is slated for release. The project has garnered significant anticipation with the addition of actors Lee Sang-yeob, Yuk Jun-seo, and Hyun-jun. Additionally, the historical drama <Joseon Seraphim>, directed by Park Jin-young, will delve into the themes of power and betrayal within the Joseon Dynasty's upper class, starring Lee Tae-sung, Ryu Hyo-young, Go Yoon, and Jung Joo-yeon.
Beyond these initial offerings, SHOWBITE boasts a diverse slate of upcoming titles, including <When I Resigned, the Top Star Became Obsessed with Me>, a romance between a manager and a top star directed by Jung Sung-bin, and <Love in Thailand>, a romantic comedy filmed entirely on location in Thailand by director MaxCo Kim.
SHOWBITE is poised to aggressively expand its global distribution network by participating in the 'Broadcast Content WorldWide (BCWW)' in September and the 'Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM)' in October. Further details and updates on these projects will be available via SHOWBITE's official social media and YouTube channels.
