Wave original survival content 'The Community 2: The Invisible Hand' released a Q&A covering the planning intent and viewing points three days before its premiere.

'The Community 2: The Invisible Hand' (hereafter 'The Community 2') is a social experiment survival show where participants holding different resources must survive through trading alone, risking their lives and prize money. Following the previous season which showed multidimensional relationships stemming from ideological and value differences, this season centers on resources and trading to capture intense psychological warfare and unpredictable relationship dynamics among participants. Prior to the first release, the production team directly answered key questions ranging from the design intent behind imbalanced resources to casting behind-the-scenes stories.

Regarding differences from the previous season, the production team stated they focused on maintaining their unique identity while avoiding repetition of the same message or structure. Unlike the previous season which showed how a single community lives under an agreed system, the team noted that observations similar to international relations would emerge as groups with different interests form relationships and conflict without mutual agreement. This leaves room for viewers to interpret from their own perspectives.

The reason for distributing imbalanced resources to participants—including life, prize money, and activity rights—was to experiment with the economic concept of 'comparative advantage.' The team intended to capture the trading and negotiation processes that occur as participants compete for limited essential resources given different resources and objectives. Like the reality where the party suggesting a price first is disadvantaged, the show will vividly display intense mind-reading games and unavoidable psychological warfare as participants try to understand each other's psychology.

Production considerations for implementing 'The Invisible Hand,' the subtitle and main theme, continued. While perfect information disclosure is essential to the premise that balance is achieved through selfish motives alone, in reality even slight information imbalance distorts rational choices. The production team intensely focused on the dilemmatic situation where decisions participants make at their positions paradoxically conflict with the overall optimum.

The lineup and team composition were also completed by considering participants' values and group dynamics from multiple angles. Since reality shows lack scripts, interactions between characters became even more important. The background for re-recruiting Lee Ji-na from the previous season was that her economics major aligned with the theme, and as a transparent and honest player, she was judged to serve as a reference point amid highly uncertain game dynamics.

The production team's key viewing point is the diversification of perspectives. The show has the charm of allowing the same narrative to be interpreted differently each time depending on which character's position one views from. The appeal of watching lies in observing how results from participants' moment-to-moment choices create ripple effects on the overall game board. Additionally, twists unfolding every night beyond intense daytime trading are expected to deliver intense immersion to viewers.

The social experiment survival 'The Community 2: The Invisible Hand,' returning with new developments, will be exclusively released on Wave on Friday, September 4.
