The 22nd Jecheon International Music Film Festival (JIMFF, Executive Director Jang Hang-jun) will open its opening ceremony on September 3rd at 7:30 PM at the Summer Plaza of the Jecheon Arts Center, beginning its six-day journey. Under the hosting of broadcaster Jang Do-yeon and actor Moon Sang-min, numerous figures from the domestic and international film industries, including honorary ambassador Ahn Jae-hong, will attend in large numbers.
Directors Park Chan-wook, Kim Jong-gwan, and Jung Ji-young, along with actors Song Joong-ki, Yoo Hae-jin, Park So-dam, Eom Tae-goo, Shim Eun-kyung, and Kim Seol-hyun, representing leading Korean filmmakers, will grace the opening ceremony red carpet. Shin Chul, Executive Director of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and Eom Hong-gil, an official from the Ulsan Ulju World Mountain Film Festival, as well as other key figures from major domestic film festivals, will also participate.
The attendance of overseas guests is also drawing attention. Chinese master director Zhao Jiping, this year's recipient of the Jecheon Film Music Award, will visit Jecheon. Four of his representative works, including 'Farewell My Concubine' and 'Raise the Red Lantern,' will be specially screened during the festival. Director Raphael Parriallo of the opening film 'Congo Boy' will also attend and directly communicate with audiences on stage.
The opening ceremony will proceed with a special stage performance, followed by the opening declaration by co-organizers Lee Sang-cheon and Lee Jang-ho, remarks by Executive Director Jang Hang-jun, a stage greeting by Ahn Jae-hong, the Jecheon Film Music Award ceremony, and introductions of competition section judges and the opening film.
Under the slogan 'Fly Together,' this film festival will be held throughout Jecheon from September 3rd to 8th. A total of 189 films from 51 countries and performances by 37 teams are prepared, with diverse programs unfolding at various venues throughout the city, including the Jecheon Cultural Theater and the Jecheon Arts Center. The opening ceremony will be livestreamed through Naver Zzzic.
