Film investment and distribution company Showbox launching new short-form drama label 'SHOWBITE' to penetrate the market.
SHOWBITE will sequentially present 5 short-form dramas starting in September, with plans to unveil approximately 20 titles by the end of the year.
The first work is director Yoon Hyung-sik's "Lo," which will be simultaneously released on September 11 through global short-form platforms 'Showtyme' and 'Beglou'. The story follows Victor, the second son of a food group, and rival Myika, who possesses absolute taste, as they clash as teammates in a cooking competition, with actors Alexander Morell and Jonathan Barcellos starring.
This is followed by action thriller "Grim Reaper: Return of Asura" directed by Lee Chang-woo, depicting the revenge of a former secret agent. Actors Lee Sang-yeop, Yuk Jun-seo, and Hyun Joon join the cast, drawing anticipation. Additionally, historical drama "Joseon Sulhwapim" (director Park Jin-young), dealing with power and betrayal among the Joseon upper class, features actors Lee Tae-sung, Ryu Hyo-young, Ko Yoon, and Jung Ju-yeon.
Other diverse genre productions awaiting release include "I Quit My Job and Now a Top Star is Obsessed with Me" (director Jung Sung-bin), depicting a romance between a manager and top star, and romantic comedy "Love in Thailand" (director MaxCo Kim), produced with Thai locations.
SHOWBITE plans to actively expand its international distribution network by participating in 'Broadcasting & Audiovisual Market (BCWW)' to be held in September and 'Asia Contents & Film Market (ACFM)' in October.
