The Wave original series 'The Community 2: The Invisible Hand' is generating significant buzz with the return of well-made social experiment survival shows. As expectations rise for what masterpiece will be born, the release of the first preview video and team posters have further heightened curiosity about the work.
'The Community 2' is a social experiment survival show where participants with different resources must survive and compete for prize money solely through trading. It is the second season of 'Ideological Verification Zone: The Community,' which drew attention as Korea's first 'ideology survival' show, was nominated for the entertainment category at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, and won the best entertainment and educational program award at the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards.
In the first preview video, the unique structure of the community town divided into four groups and the survival rules are revealed. The 'White' team—Gary Kim, Nux, Park Se-seung, Shin Hye-won, Lee Han, and Lee Hyun-sun—control the prize authority; the 'Blue' team—Lee Su-min, Lee Ji-na, and Lim Ji-eun—manage survival; the 'Red' team—Park Chul-hyun, Seung-woo's Dad, and Lee Jae-yong—control the games. The 'Black' team's Jung Jae-ho holds sole control of food and information distribution, engaging in fierce negotiations with each group to secure his advantage.
Scenes depicting conflicts among participants heighten the tension. While Lee Su-min sheds tears and a confident Jung Jae-ho are contrasted, heated voices cry out "Let's start a war" and "Hypocrisy from beginning to end." As participants with different powers attempt to overcome conflict and achieve satisfactory trades and negotiations, curiosity about the psychological games to unfold intensifies expectations.
The 'Values Code Test' conducted before move-in is another device that increases immersion. Questions addressing ethical, social, and economic dilemmas appear, such as torture of a terrorist's child, wage gaps between CEOs and employees, the causes of poverty, and dam construction in flooded areas for public good. Participants respond hesitantly, saying "The questions are really tough" and "My thinking changed and I reflected on myself."
The four team posters released together feature slogans containing each group's survival methods and values. The White team says "Survival isn't the only goal, will I leave empty-handed?"; the Blue team, "Why should we be responsible for your lives too?"; the Red team, "Just kill them all, with skill"; and the Black team, "I want peace"—each hinting at different desires and strategies.
With heightened expectations for the resource war and fierce strategic battle among the four teams with clear authority and convictions, 'The Community 2: The Invisible Hand' will be exclusively released on Wave tomorrow (the 4th) Friday at 11 a.m.
