The film 'Odyssey' has rewritten the history of foreign film box office success as it surpassed the 9 million viewer mark on the 31st, its 27th day of release.
According to the integrated computerized network for movie ticket sales, 'Odyssey' (directed by Christopher Nolan / distributed and supplied by Universal Pictures) surpassed 9 million cumulative viewers as of 6:03 p.m. on the 31st.
'Odyssey' became the second foreign film to surpass 9 million viewers in Korea following 'Avatar: The Way of Water' in the post-pandemic era. It surpassed the final records of 'Elemental' (7.24 million) in 2023, 'Inside Out 2' (8.79 million) in 2024, and 'Zootopia 2' (8.61 million) in 2025, which were each year's top-grossing foreign films over the recent three years, claiming the position of the highest-grossing foreign film released domestically in the past three years.
The achievement of surpassing 9 million viewers in 27 days of release is four days faster than the pace of 'Avatar: The Way of Water' (30 days). In its fifth week of release, it maintained the number one position at the weekend box office for four consecutive weeks and continues to hold the top spot in advance ticket reservation rates amid the release of new films.
